Cuminaldehyde is a natural compound in Cumin seeds, due to which cumin seeds get their nutty, peppery, lemony taste. Alcohol and water extracts of this compound also contain antioxidants. Cumin can survive even the harsh climates like droughts, tropical or subtropical crop. Cumin has a growth season 100-120 days. The growth temperature of cumin ranges between 25 and 30 °C. The most suitable climate for its growth is the Mediterranean climate. Because of these suitable climatic conditions cumin is cultivated in many parts of the world. The main producers of Cumin seed oil are China and India, which produces almost 70% of the world supply and consumes 90% of that.
