Wheat and other grains comprise of three components namely, germ, bran and endosperm, out of which wheatgerm is a nucleus or embryo is the part which is germinated. It is a rich source of vitamin E, B6, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium and omega 3, 9 and 6. Wheatgerm oil is extracted through the process of cold pressing. It is a liquid of dark yellow to brown in colour and has a nutty or oat like fragrance. It comprises of chemical components such as palmitic, alpha linolenic, linoleic, fatty acids and oleic. Wheatgerm contains various usages and medicinal properties for skin, immune system and overall health of the body.

Uses
- Wheat germ oil is edible, therefore, it is added to foods and beverages as it is a rich source of vitamin B6 and E and phosphorus and magnesium. The oil very beneficial for the sportspersons as it comprises of a component called octacosanal that increases muscle energy. The oil can also be applied on the skin for repairing and prevents various skin infections. When this oil is consumed, it helps in preventing many diseases and boosting the body's immune system.
