German Chamomile belongs to Asteraceae family of plant kingdom. It is also known as Wild Chamomile, Scented Mayweed etc. It is an annual plant that is native to North Africa, Europe and in some parts of Asia. The plant consists of a smooth and erect stems that grows up to 6 to 23 inches. It bears leaves that are tripinnate or sometimes bipinnate. Chamomile flowers bloom in summers and diffuse strong floral fragrance. The oil is extracted from the flowers through the process of steam distillation.
