Mace oil is steam distilled from the mace which is basically dried…crimson-colored….lacy seed covering called aril removed from the nutmeg. Mace trees are grown in India and Spain. The oil is colourless to pale yellow in colour and has a sharp, strong and spicy odour. Mace oil is Non-toxic, non-irritant and non-sensitizing. The oils have the properties of being an analgesic, anti-oxidant, anti-septic and digestive. The main constituents of this oil consists of monoterpene hydrocarbon, monoterpene alcohols, aromatic monoterpenes,, alkenes, organic acid oxygenated monoterpene, monoterpene esters and aromatic ethers.
