Holy Basil Essential Oil (Tulsi) which is said to be originated in India is extracted from the herb Ocimum Sanctum by a steam distillation process. The oil has a watery viscosity and is pale greenish yellow in color. Its aroma is light, clear, and sweet. Basil is a much-favored herb in India for the medical and culinary process. Basil leaves are put on the chest of a Hindu on his funeral pyre, as it is thought to be the express ticket to paradise. It is used to treat Headache, Fever, and nausea in India and Africa. It is used in Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine as well. The Chemical compounds that are included in Basil Oil are a-pinene, Camphene,b-pinene, myrcene, limonene, cis- ocimene, camphor, linalool, mythlchavicol, y- terpineol, citronellol, geraniol, mythlcinnamate and eugeno.
