Cajuput oil is obtained by distillation the leaves of the Melaleuca species. The trees yielding the oil are found throughout Southeast Asia and over the hotter parts of the Australian continent. The majority of the oil is produced on the Indonesian island of the Sulawesi. The name Cajuput is derived from its Indonesian name white wood.
The leaves are collected on a hot dry day and then the oil is made from these leaves. It is also used as an ingredient in inhalants and topical pain remedies.
Not only in humans, is it also used in animals like fishes. Cajuput oil hence is a volatile oil.
