Lemongrass Essential Oil

The Lemongrass Essential Oil is made from the fresh leaves or the dried ones of the Lemongrass plant with the use of steam distillation. Lemongrass Essential oil has a very lemony and sweet smell. It has a very significant characteristic i.e. it is a bit of dark yellowish in color and sometimes amber too. Well, it is also found in red with a viscosity of water. The principal chemical components of this particular oil are citronellal, geraniol, myrcene, geranyl acetate, neral, nerol. Apart from this, it also has traces of citral and limonene.

Some special properties of Lemongrass Oil are listed as follows: antimicrobial, analgesic, astringent, antiseptic, bactericidal, anti-depressant, deodorant, febrifuge, galactagogue, carminative, carminative, fungicidal, insecticidal. It is also used as a nervine and a tonic/sedative for the nervous system.
