Baobab Seed Oil

The seeds of the long-lived, deciduous baobab tree are the sources of baobab carrier oil. The plant belongs to the genus of Adansonia in the Bombacaceae family. It is native to the Madagascar region of Africa, Australia, and some regions in Asia. The baobab tree is also known as an “ upside-down tree” as it is characterized by broad trunks and compact crowns. The local people eat its leaves as vegetables and use fruit pulp, flowers, and bark as eatables. Baobab produces fragrant flowers that open around dusk and fade by the next morning. The plant bears large, oval, or round hard-shelled, berry-like fruits that contain kidney-shaped seeds with dry pulp. Baobab seeds are rich in iron, calcium, and vitamin C. Baobab oil manufacturers extract thick vegetable oil by the cold-press method. The oil is non-greasy and is easily absorbed into the skin. It oxidizes at the slowest rate compared to other carrier oils and has a shelf-life of up to 5 years. It possesses antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties.
