Essential Oils That Help Protect You and Your Homes From Virus And Bacteria

Are there any risks involved in using the Essential Oils?
As suggested by many experts, essential oils are only potentially harmful when ingested or by causing allergic reactions in direct contact with the skin. However they are not likely to cause harm when used as a household cleaner. Simply diluting these concentrated oils with water, base oils like Almond oil or other cleansers will make them safe and effective for our various purposes. Please remember that diluting the oils usually and in general, cuts down on any harmful effects they might have and thereby reducing any health hazard risks that these might pose.

So, which Essential Oils work well as ‘saviors’?
All essential oils seem to have the compounds that fight microbes. Nonetheless, some may work better than others. Oil such as Eucalyptus, Lemon, Lemongrass and Tea Tree are most recommended as best and natural anti-viral and anti-bacterial resources. Essential oils such as Clove, Cinnamon, Hyssop, Lavender, Melissa, Oregano, Peppermint and Thyme are well know ‘gladiators’ that combat viral, bacterial and fungal infections very effectively.

These anti-viral oils can help in treating various infections that modern drugs fail to heal completely and properly. A study conducted at the Central Institute of Medical and Aromatic Plants, Luckhnow, India discovered that Pure Rosemary essential oil proved to be of great assistance in the treating drug-resistant mutations of E. coli, Candida alb cans and Mycobacterium smegmatis. A similar research in China concluded that like Rosemary, Clove oils were equally effective in treating the infections of similar nature.

Herpes is one of the worst infections I have come to know in my life. The victim cries with pain in the affected area(s) of the body and if not treated properly, Herpes can have fatal effects.

As for treatment through 100% pure and natural essential oils, even Herpes has been found to be vulnerable to anti-viral essential oils. A research study in Germany found Peppermint essential oil was very effective in treating Herpes Simplex virus types 1 and 2. When applied topically, Peppermint essential oil may be of great help in the treating recurrent herpes infections as a anti-viral agent. Similar another study showed that pure and natural essential oils of Tea Tree and Eucalyptus showed up well in the treatment of Herpes Simplex virus as for their anti-viral attributes. The essential oil of Melissa officinalis (Lemon balm) was also found to be an effective topical treatment for the Herpes Virus in another such study in Germany.

With so much positive feedback given, I am sure that you must be yearning to start using essential oils for disinfecting your home and body. However, before you do there are a few DON’Ts to keep in mind.

First, please understand that not all fragrant oils are essential oils; so make sure that the oils you purchase are pure essential oils in all respects and not just perfumed oils that decorate the homes.

Second, pure Organic essential oils are very potent so never assume more means better. Using too much can actually do more harm than giving benefits. Some natural essential oils can cause skin irritations and even allergic reactions. Before applying them topically make sure to use them under the supervision of a therapeutic expert or a skilled aroma-therapist. Of course, do not forget to dilute essential oils before use!

Last but not the least, never ingest essential oils. The safest way to use essential oils is topical application (diluted) or inhaling through n inhaler or with an oil diffuser. One can also use essential oils in a therapeutic bath, a compress, mixed into candles or mixed into massage oil.
